After qualifying on the pole with a lap time of 18.1 seconds, Charles Price of Redlands took the lead from Kevin Thompson of Yorba Linda on lap 34 and went on to win the March 22 season opening NASCAR AC Delco Super Late Model division 50-lap feature race in front of a sellout crowd at the newly named TOYOTA Speedway at Irwindale in Irwindale, California. "What an awesome way to start a season! This is an absolute testament to the hard work this team has put forth and the dedication of David Eshleman has had over the years in building what is becoming one of the premiere racing teams on the west coast. I am very excited for everyone here at EGR; we have a great group, an excellent facility with top notch equipment and as a multi-car team this is a win for all of us," said Kenton Gray.
Eshleman-Gray Racing was formed prior to the opening of the 2008 season. Owned by veteran driver and team owner Dave Eshleman and Kenton Gray, who is driving the #88 Super Late Model car and has owned both two and four wheel teams, Eshleman-Gray has four cars racing at this time. Charles Price's win is certainly an impressive start to what looks to be an exciting season for EGR.
