Dexter Bean, BlackJack Racing Bring Diabetes Awareness to Memphis Busch Race

Friday, October 27th, 2006

MEMPHIS, Tennessee  (Friday, October 27, 2006) - - In recognition of  November
’s National Diabetes Awareness Month, BlackJack Racing with NASCAR Busch
Series rookie Dexter Bean will unload their No. 63 Ford Taurus at Memphis
Motorsports Park Friday proudly hoisting the Juvenile Diabetes Research  Foundation
International (JDRF) logos in an effort to broaden the racing  community’s
understanding of the  critical need to find a cure for this disease.
JDRF is the leading  charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile)
diabetes research  worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes
and its  complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a
disease  which strikes people—many of them children—suddenly and requires
multiple  injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a
pump.  Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent
its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure,
blindness, heart disease, stroke, and  amputation.

“I seem to adjust really quickly to the mile and a half tracks and I think as a whole Evernham Motorsports is a strong force on the mile and a half tracks. This has been proven this year by Kasey Kahne’s six wins in the Nextel Cup Series. Personally for me, the intermediate tracks seem to be where I am most comfortable and where I also have the most success.”

  SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:

“We have excelled at tracks like Texas and Lowe’s so far this season and would like nothing more than to get a top finish at a similar track like Atlanta this weekend. When we ran Atlanta in the spring this Valvoline Evernham Racing team overcame a lot to have a very fast Charger in the end, driving up from 20th to 11th on the last set of tires. I talked with Rodney on Monday and we will be heading to Atlanta this time with the same setup we dialed into it in the spring, but adding a couple of the things we have learned in recent tests at Homestead and Kentucky. There is a new tire we will be using this weekend that is different from the spring race. But I have a lot of confidence that Rodney and the guys will be on top of that.”

No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger Race Facts
Atlanta MotorSpeedway–NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series
          Driver:  Elliott Sadler

Car Info:    Qualified fourth in the fallrace at Lowe’s and ran in the top-10 until engineissues forced and early exit to the race.

ELLIOTT SADLERQUOTES

“We’ve certainly had our share of problems the last few races. The guys have been working their tails off and we’ve been very competitive, but we just haven’t had much luck. We expect the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger to be very competitive at Atlanta and Texas. I’ve had success at the mile-and-half tracks in the past and Evernham Motorsports certainly has a history of impressive performances at those tracks. We want to end the season on a positive note, so these next four races are very important to the No. 19 team. We’re looking to build momentum for the 2007 season.”
