NORWELL, MA (February 8, 2007) - In racing, there are many ingredients that are needed to succeed. A driver’s talent, good equipment and a solid team are all needed to perform well. But without the proper chemistry, none of those things alone will lead to regular appearances in victory lane.
Which explains why Bobby Grigas, III is so excited about starting his 2007 racing season. With Greg Narducci as his crew chief and Brad LaFontaine as a consultant, Grigas feels that he has a true dream team surrounding him.
“Those two guys are the Masters of Modifieds,” said Grigas. “I’m surrounded by the right people. Brad sets up my car and Greg is the crew chief at the track. We aren’t just teammates either. We’re friends too. They’re awesome guys and I think that we are going to have a great season.”
Grigas doesn’t take the help for granted either. It took a lot of effort to put together this combination and Grigas doesn’t forget that fact.
“It took some time to find the right people,” said Grigas. “Things really got going when Brad and I started to work together. We clicked right away. He calls me his stepson. I was psyched that he took me under his wing and then Greg joined the team late last year. It’s the same thing with Greg. We just get along great.”
LaFontaine’s impact with the #09 Triple G Scaffolding team was instantaneous last season.
“It started out with Brad and I,” said Grigas. “He’s my chassis guy. I wouldn’t have won those races, I wouldn’t have beaten Ted Christopher at Canaan. Without him, I would have been struggling for awhile. You need the right combination of people.”
And when Narducci joined the team after a winning record with drivers like Ted Christopher, Mike Ewanitsko and Rick Fuller, things got even better for Grigas.
“Greg is really good. He has helped me tremendously. I had the worst luck possible since the end of last year, but we’ve been fast everywhere we’ve gone. I qualified third at the North vs. South Shootout, we were fast at the Mason-Dixon Meltdown and I’ve just had bad luck.”
With their help, Grigas knows that he’s likely to have a very good year of racing ahead of him.
“Those guys have so much experience and now it’s up to me to show everyone what we can do. With these guys behind me, we’re going to have a great season. They are the best in the business. I couldn’t ask for anything more - except to have some luck in the races.”
Grigas starts off his season during Speedweeks 2007 at New Smyrna Speedway, which kicks off February 9th and runs through the 17th.
